Cloud Reflections

Cloud Reflections
Alaskan plein air #3
8" x 6" oil on canvas on board
$100.00 + $10. s/h

We had a little bit of all kinds of weather, but pretty good as far as Alaska goes.  There were a few days of light rain, many cloudy, gray days, and a few days of beautiful blue skies.

Those of you who are plein air painters know that painting outside has lots of fun challenges.  Changing clouds in the sky is one, but changing cloud reflections in the water is another!  I put the lightest reflective whites in first and didn't change them, even as the reflections floated away across the water.

This is looking the other direction.  A completely different mood and feel.

These reflections were all taken in the late afternoon/early evening.

Fabulous!! Love how you edited the gorgeous landscape and focused on what was most interesting. Great composition and lovely cloud reflections!!! Plus the glory of being there in person shines through.

I didn't realize you were in Alaska again, Pam. I am, however, overjoyed to be seeing more of your beautiful Alaskan landscapes. Stunning!

Thank you Debbi. The reflections were what I was drawn to, so I focused in on that.

Crystal, Thanks. There weren't lots of blue sky days, so I jumped at the chance to paint these reflections.

Thank you Anne. I almost wish I'd photoed more and maybe painted less...no, I should have multi-tasked and done both at the same time!

Jan, Thank you. I loved this one! We all have our favorites.

Thanks so much Sherry. Yes, We went again! Had another great trip!

Fabulous job, Pam!!!
It is a very striking painting!!!

Amazing isn't it..?? How much changes when you're out there... not just the clouds, but the surface quality of the water.

Amazing how glass-like it was when you captured it!!

Merveilleux travail... j'aime les reflets de vos nuages dans l'eau... Vos photos sont aussi sublimes et le lieu me paraît très paisible, juste comme j'aime.

Marian, Thank you! Water is not something that I paint often. We have rivers and reservoirs, but not such vast amounts as I saw in Alaska. It was fun for me!

Thank you so much Kathleen. I love painting the reflections. As you know, we just don't have quite this large amount!

Merci beaucoup Martine. Moi aussi j'aime les reflets.

Thank you so much Nancy!
