Day 16 of 30
Once again I'm participating in the 30 in 30 painting challenge i.e.:  paint 30 paintings in 30 days.  I'm not able to paint every day for 30 days in January, but I'm going to paint as much as I can.  My theme for this challenge is "Paintings From Mexico."  My husband and I love Mexico, we've been there many times and we'll be there much of this winter (we are so lucky to have the most wonderful house sitter), thus, my theme.  I'll post as often as I can.  When I don't have new paintings from Mexico I'm going to throw in some oldies but goodies on my blog.  But, to stick with the challenge I'll only post the new ones on the challenge blog.  Enjoy!

This is another piece from Puerta Vallarta.  I love the architecture, weather, people, ease of getting there from Colorado.  It's great to walk around and see all of the buildings.  Walking up and down the Malecon (sidewalk area along the beach) is fascinating at any hour of the day.  It's incredible people watching.

These are roof tops from Puerta Vallarta.  I have to say that we love Puerta Vallarta.  While the beaches are not spectacular, the town is wonderful.  It's a combination of old Mexico and tourism.  The town in filled with ex-pats who seem to blend easily with the Mexicans.  It's a wonderful place.  Great weather, lots to do, interesting architecture, quaint.  I can't say enough about it!

This Mexican chair is from our room in Puerta Vallarta.  Again, I love the bright colors used in Mexico.    I think it makes every thing seem happy!  The people all seem so happy;  maybe it's the colors they use.

This is the view from our room in Puerta Vallarta.  I love the bright colors that are so often seen in Mexican architecture.  In Colorado most of the houses are soft earth tones, making a feeling of calmness.  In Mexico the colors are so bright and bold, but just seem to work.

This wall was on Holbox Island, off the northern coast of the Yucatan.  We walked by it everyday.  Of course, depending on the time of day the shadows were always different.  But, no matter what time of day, I stopped and looked at the shadows.  Not sure if it was the shadow shapes, colors, or color of the wall, but it drew me.

These Mexican pots were found here in Colorado Springs at Hillside Gardens.  They are a beautiful garden store and wedding facility that has a wonderful view of Pikes Peak.  There is so much Mexican pottery in every color imaginable that there are path ways which you can walk through the pots!

This is another piece done from our trip to Holbox Island, off the coast of the northern Yucatan.  I loved the peacefulness of the water this day.  Oceans aren't always this calm, this colorful, this turquoise.  But, when they are, you can sit for hours and just look at them.

This painting was done from a photo that I took on Holbox Island.  This island is about 7 miles of the northern coast of the Yucatan.  We spent a week on Holbox and had rain, clouds, and sun.  The ocean was different in everyone of those conditions.  I love how the ocean changes.

This painting was started at Casa Crystal Store here in Colorado Springs.  The store has every thing Mexican that you can imagine...rugs, pottery, sculptures, masks, glass ware, carved wood.  I love this store.  I've taken many guests there.  These pots were among hundreds in the out door area of the shop.  I wasn't able to complete this in one plein air setting, so finished the last bit of it from a photo.
