Here is another Bird of Paradise from our San Diego trip.  I couldn't get enough of them.  I love how pointy and colorful they are.  This one was in Von's Supermarket parking lot.  I'm sure people wondered what I was doing!

We spent Thanksgiving in San Diego with my husband's sister.  These birds of paradise were blooming profusely everywhere!  We do not have tropical plants like this in Colorado.  These are such comical, space-like, almost geometric bird plants.  I would go for walks just looking at them.  I'm sure that if you live in Southern California, and other places where these grow, that you might not be as thrilled with them as I was.  I guess it's like people coming to Colorado and exclaiming over all the yucca when it blooms in June.

This view is from Lower Gold Camp Road, which is very near our house.   I have painted this scene before but without the roof of the Nature Center.  This time I thought I would leave it tucked in behind the trees.

This is from a recent hike in Cheyenne Canyon, not too far from our house.  While I know it's not great for our water supply, we continue to have warm, beautiful weather.

This is the last of my six ornament pieces.  I loved painting these and will definitely paint more in the future;  whether this season or next season remains to be seen.  I think part of the fun for me were the light and reflections.  I do more landscapes and floral/garden paintings, and the strong, bold reflections found in the glass are not present in the out of doors.

My husband and I just got home from a great, several week road trip to San Diego, the Tucson area, Petrified National Forest and Canyon de Chelley in Arizona, Hovenweep National Monument in Utah, and Durango, Co.  The trip was filled with family, friends, fun, sites and hiking.  I painted in advance before leaving and had off and on access to the internet.  Thank you to everyone for all of your comments.  I'm now trying to catch up with my comments to you, finish posting the last few ornaments and wine pieces and then will post paintings of the trip.

Come Again

This is one of 2 pieces that I have in the 6" Squared Show at Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa, California. The Gala Artists Reception is this weekend:  Saturday, December 4 from 4:00 - 9:00 pm and Sunday, December 5, from 12:00 - 5:00 pm. The show and sale continues until December 23rd.  I am thrilled to be a part of this show.
