My husband does most of the grocery shopping and came home the other day w/ these turnips. He said we should have mashed turnips for dinner (we have only had turnips maybe once in 27 years of marriage!) I just loved the color and had to get a painting done quickly. And, dinner was good!

I love the lush purple color of the turnips against the warm yellow-orange background. Very appealing painting! I can't remember ever eating turnips. Were they good?

Ditto! The purple against the orange/gold is stunning. Hey did you ever find out how to ID your blog subscribers?

Pam, Your color combo of orange and purple is brilliant! Speaking of turnips, when we were in Ireland, turnips were served with almost every dinner entree that we ordered. Brian and I talked about that the fact that we have never seen turnips in a USA retaurant, ever. We have also never cookied them at home. It's an unusual verggie! Also, hats off to you for managing to paint during this hectic time of year! It has been way too busy around here, and I miss painting. Hope to get to it today!

Janelle, Yes, actually they were pretty good. They have a smell similar to a radish. Must be in that family. We prepared them like mashed potatoes.

Thanks Debbi, Before setting up I debated to go w/ a soft cool green, or this bold yellow/orange. Next time...

Marian, Thanks. I know, I feel so good when I get my moneys worth.

Thanks Nancy, When I think of Ireland I think of potatoes. Didn't know they served lots of turnips! We get busy next week when both the kids come home!
