Texas Steer

I like the challenge of painting whites and grays (that's what the colors really are.)  This Texas day was filled with neutral color notes: the steer, the leafless shrubs in the background, the partly cloudy sky.

Amazing!!! My dad breeds cows - can't remember the name of his current kind. Used to breed polled herfords. Is this a long horn? You nailed the colors and the mood.

Pam, this composition is fabulous! I love all the colors you got in the grays, too!

Wow! This is a really nice painting Pam. I have been keeping an eye on Teresa Elliot's work too and I am feeling the whole cow theme! Great work!

Thanks Debbi, Next time I'm in Texas I want to go see your dad! I honestly don't know if this is a longhorn. I saw lots of longhorns w/ really long horns, and this herd had only medium horns. Can longhorns have medium horns?

Kelley, Thanks. The grays are really fun; there are lots of colors.

Lee, After you posted about Teresa Elliot I looked up her website. She is amazing. Her cows are so realistic.

I love this!! Aside from the steer himself, it's got a really amazing sense of light/time of day.
I've been trying to find some cows around here to paint!

Karen, Thanks. The light was exactly how it should be that day! Sometimes all just goes well!

Thanks Linda, Are steer beautiful, or handsome?

Nancy, Thank you!

Thank you Vic & Dennis, So appreciate your comments.

Karen, Thank you, There have to be some relatives of Mrs. O'Leary's cow somewhere nearby!
