This morning my plein air group painted at McAllister House Museum in downtown Colorado Springs.  I don't think I'd been there since I'd gone with our 23 year old daughter's Brownie Troop.  During that tour the docent explained that (the story goes) the three McAllister children saw Native Americans in their back garden when they went out the back garden door.  This house was constructed in 1873 and at that time Colorado Springs was just being built and was still very much the wild west.

You are on your way too 100. You are so inspiring. When does the cold weather return - mid September? I am on my way to my studio - been saying that all morning.

Very nice painting. I like the idea of painting garden structures in your 100 series. Hard to believe the house was built in 1873 and still in good shape. It must be lovely taken care of.

Glad to see you are still on your 100 quest.
Love your shovel painting. Very original.

Beautiful work capturing the shadows thrown by the trees. I love old homes and just always have visions of how I would decorate them up!

Beautiful painting, Pam. The light and shadows are especially nice, and I really liked reading about the history of the structure. Keep them coming!

Pam, I love the shadows! What a lovely house, and story. I think that your garden series is a great idea! If you have a chance, please post some pictures of the garden store that is selling your painting!
What a great marketing idea!

Debbi, thanks. The 100 will take awhile as I paint so many other things, too. But, I loved giving myself a challenge!

Thank you Linda, My 100 is all things "garden". I didn't want to limit myself to flowers, and we have such a short growing season at this altitude.

Gary, Thanks. I loved doing that shovel. I plan on making it a regular subject!

Sherrie, Thank you. Since this house is a museum, it's completely done as it was last century.

Thank you Claire. The tree was just far enough away that it was out of the picture, but added great shadows.

Celeste, Yes, spontaneous is a good adjective. I had to be quick that morning as I had another commitment that day. Thanks.

Thank you Nancy, A great idea to show Summerland Gardens. I will.

Thank you Ralph, I love painting the pansies!

Thank you Susan, We were all sitting in the back alley parking lot, and it was cozy!
