Sunny Vista Art Show
Last night was the opening of the Art Show at Sunny Vista Living Center. Each year the show draws more and more artists, which is great as 25% of the sales benefit the residents. I was pleased that three of my recent pieces were juried in to the show.

Majestic Migration

6" x 6" oil on panel
$100.00 $10. s/h
Last month my husband and I went to Monte Vista, Colorado, in the southern part of the state, to see the sandhill crane migration. During the month of March 20 - 25,000 cranes migrate through, and spend a good part of the month loading up on fuel in preparation for the continuation of the flight north. At any given time there are about 10,000 - 11,000 greater sandhill cranes at the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge.
They say that the cranes have been stopping off in the the San Luis Valley for millions of years. On a cliff southwest of Monte Vista is a well protected six foot petroglyph of a crane. This tells us that even 2,000 years ago man was anticipating the annual return of the sandhill cranes.

9" x 12" oil on canvas on board
$195.00 + $10. s/h
This is from a trip my husband and I took several years ago to visit our daughter in Sevilla, Spain. I paint a lot of landscapes with rocks, I live in the Rockies! And off and on I paint buildings with incredible rock walls. So, I wanted to continue painting rocks, and was drawn to this stone floor. I loved how the warm oranges played against the purples.

We've been spending the last few days cleaning the yard and gardens. For many of you, spring has been around for awhile. But, in our neighborhood, we have yet to have any spring flowers bloom. The blossoms are just starting to appearing on trees, so I know that spring is about here!

I'm thrilled to once again be in the 6" Squared Show at the Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa, California. The reception is this Saturday, April 16th. While I'm not able to attend the show, the video and pictures that I've seen of it look incredible!

This is my submission for the Daily Paintworks Challenge. It's from a photo I took on a trip to Patzcuaro, Mexico. While this one is sold, it's motivated me to look through my photo files and to paint some more chickens and roosters! Look for some soon.

I love how there are so many values and colors in these rocks. And it seems that no matter when a home was built, location, location, location is/was important!
Tonight, Friday, is the opening of our group show at Summerland Gardens 124 East Cheyenne Road, Colorado Springs, 80906. If you're in the area, please stop by from 5 - 7. Or, if that's not possible, please visit the gardens and gallery in the next few months.

6" x 8" Oil
$100.00 + $10. s/h
This is my submission for the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge. I will admit that I find painting from someone else's photo a challenge. For me, a landscape is usually of a spot where I've been, a spot that I love, a place that has some connection to me.
I am part of a group show that is opening this Friday, April 8th from 5 - 7. I hope that you can stop by Summerland Gardens 124 East Cheyenne Road, Colorado Springs, 80906. The show will be hanging through June.

Late Snow
Late Snow
6" x 6" Oil
$100.00 + $10. s/h
It's snowing and windy and we're expected to have several inches of snow by morning. This is springtime in the Rockies! Now that I have this posted, I think I may go back and remove the row of evergreens in the background.
If you think about Edgar Payne's compositions, I would call this a diagonal L.
I'm in a group show at Summerland Gardens, 124 East Cheyenne Road, Colorado Springs 80906. The opening is this Friday, April 8th from 5- 7. Please stop by that evening or any time soon.
