Sitka Clouds

Sitka Clouds
8" x 10"  Oil
$195.00 + $10. s/h

This is the second Sitka color study.  This is from the same spot as the last post, just in front of our B & B, but a different day.  This is really how much of our trip looked:  cool, cloudy, grayish, with the blue sky working hard to break through!

Peu importe si le ciel est nuageux... c'est un immense plaisir que de pouvoir admirer un si beau ciel qui apporte à cette peinture une belle atmosphère...
Gros bisous

What a beautiful spot--lovely job on both of them. Did you ever read Louis L'Amour's book "Sitka"?

Merci beaucoup Martine!

Sherry, Thank you. Traveling really expands one's palette.

Thank you Hilda. We have such a strong bright blue here in Colorado. The blues in Alaska were so grayish!

Stephanie. Thanks so much. I am an avid reader, and have read many of his, but not that one! I'll look for it!

I love the variations of blue and grey - they really capture that overcast sky. This is wonderful, Pam.

You have a great command of the subtle blues and grays. Nice job.

It always amazes me that these painting are so small. At first glance I have the thought they are big 24 x 36 images. Which makes them like little jewels boxes. Nice simple palette on this one.

Pam, love this dreamy painting! So moody, and mysterious!

Claire, Thank you. This was a great exercise. Since the composition was the same each time, I really thought about the color and value and worked on the variations.

Thanks so much Katherine!

Deborah, Thank you. I premixed lots of the colors, then mixed them w each other and that allows so many more values.

Thank yo Nancy. I do think that alaska is moody! Great adjective!

Thank you Amy! Love that....a jewel box!

Ralph, Thanks so much. There seems to be so much more atmosphere up there than here in Colorado. But I guess it's just more moisture in the sky.
