I love our western skies!  Over the last few weeks I've painted, and will now be posting, many of them.  It's hard to look "up" and not see another painting!  Although, really, the skies here aren't just "up" but seem to be right in front of you.  It is true, our skies are wide open!

I loved the drama in the sky and the light at the end of the road.  We have a lot of big, bold skies in the west.  I was drawn to the way the bold blue of the sky peeked through the clouds.

This is the second of four sunrise pieces that I painted last week.  I truly am grateful that I look at this view.  This mornings sunrise was a good one, beautiful blue-violets and oranges.  Maybe you'll see it one day!

On the mornings when I get up early enough, this is the view out of our kitchen deck doors (although, the trees have grown and I do see a bit less than this!)  I don't need to be in a hurry to get anywhere, so when the sunrise is spectacular, as it often is, I try to just sit and watch it while enjoying my morning cup of coffee. 

 

I have posted many morning sunrises on my blog.  I painted this sunrise, and 3 other skies last week.  It was the perfect time for me to paint them as it fit in with the DPW weekly challenge, which was "skies".  And, I sold 5 sky paintings at Summerland Gardens, Gifts and Gallery.  All in all a good week!  Beautiful sunrises here in Colorado Springs, great sales, and time to Sit and Watch!
