Kelley Macdonald is having a cocktail party on her blog.  Since I don't really drink many cocktails, I'm submitting these wine bottles.  They're from the wine I have with dinner, so I think that works!

I did a setup similar to this in late December.  It had a burgundy background which I found much easier.  When I softened those edges, they just blended in.  With this lighter background, when I softened the edges, the elipses seemed to be wrong.  So, I'd fix the elipses and the edges appeared hard.  Before I knew it I was ready to have a cocktail.

Love it! Looks so well done - even the elipses! Love the gold background - so sorry it caused you some trouble. Hope you enjoyed your wine with dinner. Will look for you on Kelley's blog.

Elipses have driven many an artist to drinking! Really cool painting! I think I'm going to have a glass of wine myself now, thank you!

I don't think the edges appear hard at all, Pam! What a magnificent composition and not one I'd have thought of! I personally finished off a bottle of cranberry wine myself yesterday (well, it didn't start out full - my excuse).

FIRST thing I saw when you emailed me the image - all those ellipses!!! I said to myself "That girl has GOT it!"
Cheers, friend! Posting later today!

Thank you Debbi, I'm ready to attempt more elipses. I think my last cocktail was a margarita at your house!

Natalie, Cheers!

Love the close crop on this and all of your ellipses are so good. That red bottle top really makes this composition pop for me.

Cheers! See you at Kelley's Cocktail Party!

Thanks Autumn, Edges are a constant challenge.

Kelley, Thanks. This was a great idea. I look forward to seeing them all! And, I'm ready to tackle more elipses!

Thank you Gwen, I bought the red tipped bottle just for this painting. Knew I needed something w/ a strong color!

Pam, This is a unique and exciting composition. Great job on the elipses, I would never attempt so many in one painting...you're a brave woman and it works!

Thanks Dana, I think I'm going to do more soon!

Carol, Thank you. Sometimes it's good to just jump in and paint, not worry about how challenging it is!

Thank you Sheila, The Texas trip provided so many paintings.
