Around The Bend

Around The Bend
6" x 8" Oil
$100.00 + $10. s/h

This is my submission for the Daily Paintworks weekly challenge.  I will admit that I find painting from someone else's photo a challenge.  For me, a landscape is usually of a spot where I've been, a spot that I love, a place that has some connection to me.

I am part of a group show that is opening this Friday, April 8th from 5 - 7.  I hope that you can stop by Summerland Gardens 124 East Cheyenne Road, Colorado Springs, 80906.  The show will be hanging through June.

Beautiful painting! I enjoy working from photos just cuz I like to paint in my studio! :) I would never have known you hadn't been there. After your workshop on composition and leading people in and out of your paintings, you compositions have been stellar. And the colors in this are wonderful. So refreshing. Looks like cool breezes are blowing.

This is beautiful Pam! I love how you used the warms and cools to create some vibration in the shadows...

this is full of life and it doesn't have a flat photo look that can often happen when working from them--looks fresh with a nice airy atmosphere

Sherry, Thank you so much! It also has a kind of western mountain feel, I think.

Thank you Crystal!

Debbi, Thank you! I also paint in my studio, but usually from my own photos. For me, that really helps with the feel of the piece.

Thank you Eric! So glad that you got the feel I wanted you to get!

Nancy, Thank you! I really like using purples ins landscapes to create a warmth amongst the cool colors.

Thank you Jan. Photos can also change the color of what is really out there. Another reason it's a challenge to work from someone else's photo. When it's your own, you can remember the colors.

Martine, Merci beaucoup!

A very beautiful painting, Pam.
You have captured the peacefulness of the place so well.
The colours are wonderful, especially the lavender shades of the pathway.

Thank you Dean, So glad that you think it feels plein airy!

Nancy, thank you! Once you get the value, the painting falls in place.

Thank you Dayna, I think that adding a little red/violet to the earth creates a bit of a complement w/ the greens.

Thank you so much Nancy! I want you to feel invited down the road.

Theresa, Thank you! Big brushes on a smaller canvas allow for quick, loose brushwork.

Thank you Linda. I changed the road a bit to make it a little more country.

Amy, Thank you!!

Thank you alice. I find that I often use a purpleish/red for dirt roads and paths. It works well w/ the greens.
