This spring (seems like just the other day, but the calendar says that it's summer!) my plein air group painted at Summerland Gardens here in Colorado Springs. They have several large, beautiful lilac bushes that were perfect that day. I was drawn to the bush due to the more magenta leaning purple. I wanted the lilacs to be a "lilac" color, but I painted what I saw.
