A Little Bit Later

5" x 7" oil on panel

I so enjoyed seeing the sunrise the other morning that I tried to get up early this morning, too.  But, I got up a "Litlle Bit Later" and the strong, bold colors of the sunrise had just passed, but these soft, slightly muted tones were out there.

Still gorgeous, Pam. I love how you've captured the light in the grass in the foreground. I can actually tell it is a wee bit later in the morning than the last painting.

Love this beautiful sunrise and the one in the post below. I like comparing the light in the two. That little bit of sun peeking over the horizon and the lightening of the foliage is so subtle and serene.

Might be slightly later, but still beautiful, and soft.

Sherry, Thanks so much. So glad you noticed the morning light.

Carol, Thank you. Sunrise is a beautiful time of day.

Thank you Gwen, It actually worked out that the sunrise was a little further along. Allowed me to see different light.

Kelley, Thank you so much. Love your adjective soft.

Dusty, Thanks. Yes, having a warm toned canvas works so well for sky paintings.

Thank you Kelley, It is fun for me to compare the two also.

Thank you Dana, Sunrise is a beautiful, although early time of day!

Claire, Thanks so much!!

It never ceases to entice --the 'play' of light..you could (and look at artists who have--example Monet and his haystacks)paint the same subject every hour of the day--and perhaps night-and each painting would be different --and just think--a whole body of work!

As always, beautiful handling of light, brushwork and movement

Love these two landscapes...the ruggedness of the landscape is beautiful. The quiet time in the early morning hours...you have captured it. Love those big skies!!!

I love the way you painted those yellows and oranges, and how it all transitions to the blues at the top of the sky. WOW!
Time for you to start going to bed earlier so you can get up early and paint more of these!

Hi Pam,

This and the sunrise before it are so perfect. I admire your devotion. I'm much more likely to capture the tail end of the day.

Super work.

Kerri, Thank you. Yes, it truly is beautiful, but early!

Thank you Jan, You're right. I've looked at this scene millions of times, and it is always different. maybe I should keep this series going.

Linda, Thank you. It's always great when after you complete a piece you think you've got it! But, it's even a greater feeling when some one else also thinks you've captured it. Thanks.

Kathleen, Thank you. You must have sunset views?!

Thank you Julie, Glad you like it.

Joan, Thank you!! I am trying to get to bed earlier!!

Becky, Thanks so much!

Thank you Barbara, If I had the view of the sunset, I think i would painting it instead. But....
