Big Red

Big Red
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$100.00 + $10. s/h
SOLD
We don't really name our coffee cups, but this one is just so big and so red!  I don't have any bright red creamers or tea cups, and wanted something really red.   I also wanted to continue painting reflections, but, those on the object, not on the table.

Sunset Over Buffalo Peak

Sunset Over Buffalo Peak
6" x 8" Oil on panel
SOLD

I recently hung some paintings at Dream Pastries in downtown Castle Rock, Colorado which is just north of Colorado Springs.  Dream Pastries is a bakery, coffee shop, breakfast and lunch restaurant, and wedding cake venue which hangs art work on its walls.  No sooner had I hung the work than this piece sold.  You never know where the next collector might be.  For those of you who live in the area, stop by for a pastry,  they're delicious.  And, if you become a FB friend you get a free pastry or coffee!

Ell Snow Shadows

Ell Snow Shadows
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$100.00 + $10. s/h

The trees and shadows create an L or partial rectangle, another of Edgar Payne's compositional forms.  Had I put one of the shrubs very near the far edge, this might have been Payne's steelyard composition.

Radiating Snow Shadows

Diagonal Snow Shadows
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$100.00 + $10. s/h

Last fall I did a series of paintings using aspen tree shadows to study Edgar Payne's forms of composition. After our recent snow I went for a walk and took photos.  It was way to cold for plein air work. This piece combines his radiating and diagonal lines arrangements.  Had I shown more of the shadow from the hidden tree on the right, you would easily see the radiating lines.  But, since that's not visible this is almost diagonal.   I think combining arrangements would be okay with Edgar Payne.  He stated:  "it is well to improvise without considering any particular form or arrangement."

Rolling Pin

Rolling Pin
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$100.00 + $10. s/h

This rolling pin belonged to my husband's grandmother.  It was in the summer home that his grandparents built in 1911.  His parents had the home until the late 1980's.  This is one of the momentos that my husband kept when the home was sold.  I use it whenever I bake pies, usually over the holidays.  The red paint is chipping, but the roller works, and who knows how many pie crusts have been made from this.

Lemonade

Lemonade
Oil on 2 6" x 6" panels
$75.00 + $10. s/h

This is my submission for this weeks Daily Paintworks challenge.  The object was to take an object and paint it 8 times, but only spend 10 minutes on each painting.  I've been thinking about doing another tea party painting with a lemon on a plate.  So, it seemed like a good practice.  I was planning on putting the lemon wedge on a little white plate, but, I may rethink that as I think it looks better on a dark background.  Maybe that's two paintings in the planning!

100 Garden & Floral Oil Paintings, Original Artwork by Pam Holnback, 61/100

Back Garden
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$100.00 + $10. s/h
SOLD

This is the back garden gate of the main ranch house at Triangle L Ranch and B&B in Oracle, Az.  When the ranch was homesteaded in the 1890's, or when it became a guest ranch in the 1920's, there may have been both a front formal garden as well as a back vegetable garden.

100 Garden & Floral Oil Paintings, Original Artwork by Pam Holnback, 60/100

Triangle L Garden Gate
6" x 8"  Oil on panel
Sold

In early December my husband and I stayed at the Triangle L Guest Ranch and Bed and Breakfast in Oracle, Arizona.  We'd never been to the Tucson area and spent several days exploring the desert surroundings.  Being at the Triangle L is like stepping back in history.  Many of the whitewashed adobe buildings were built in the 1890's.  Guests stay in cottages near the main ranch house.  The corral fence is built of stacked wood.  The ranch had several garden areas, lots of gates, doorways, outbuildings, a windmill.  It was great for getting me back to my garden series.

New Challenge

Big Blue
6" x 6" oil on panel
$75.00

Carol Marine has started a new challenge through Daily Paintworks.  So many great entrees have been submitted.  This one was "challenging" so to speak!

Today I attended the Colorado Springs area meeting of Artists of Colorado and Daily Painters of Colorado.  It was so great to meet some of the other artists in the group that I didn't already know and to hear about new upcoming events.  If you live in Colorado and are interested in learning about these groups, please look at the website.
