After a week in Hana we headed over to the other side of Maui. This part of the island was completely different...white sand beaches, resorts, condos, stores. This morning I set up on the beach while there was still shade on the sand. I had expected wide, wide beaches. Only a few of the beaches were like that. Many were very narrow.
I loved the trees growing right next to the beach. The island of Molokai is in the background.
Almost everyday we saw humpback whales.

Pam, I didn't know that I just missed you on Maui! I stayed right there on N. Kaanapali last week where you did that painting. The painting on my blog from Feb. 20 is within yards of where you stood. I stayed for a week at the Westin Villas there. Did you see any of the Maui Plein Air Painters show? I was there Friday night for the opening at Village Gallery. It may still be hanging if you are still there.
Can't wait to go back.

Your painting is gorgeous, Pam! I've never been to Hawaii and at this point in my life, I doubt I'll ever manage to get there. But I am sure enjoying it from your photos and your recounting of your time there!
