International Women Celebrate!

Circle Of Friends
24" x 24" Oil on wrapped canvas
SOLD

I am thrilled to be a part of the upcoming show International Women Celebrate! at the AyrSpace Gallery in Ayr, Ontario, Canada.  The exhibit celebrates the centenary of International Women's Day and shows the work of over 100 women from around the world.  I painted "Circle Of Friends" in early December and am packing it up this week for shipping.

When thinking about what to paint for this event I kept thinking about women throughout history and women around the globe sharing stories, sharing their lives, sharing tea.  How this sharing often is, or was, around a table, around a fire, in a sewing circle, in a group, but, with a circle of friends.  The show opens in early March and lasts five weeks.  If you're going to be in Ayr, Ontario I hope you'll attend.  Part of the proceeds from the sale of the paintings will go to orphans in Haiti.

Congrats!! This is a fabulous painting and so excited for you to be participating in this wonderful event. Thanks for sharing the info before - wish I had acted on it. But now I am working full time at Dell so my painting time has been shortened. I did paint last night.

Rick, Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Celeste! I liked having the time to think about all of this for a while before starting the painting. It made it easy to portray the story.

Cathyann, Thank you. I too, hope someone snaps this up! The colors did work well on my table.

Thank you David!

Thanks for your visit to my blog and your comment. Hope you will return soon. I am sure I could learn a lot from you about teaching art. I've only been at it 3 years (and I'm 59 years old). I taught 3rd grade before that for many years. I love teaching art to kids. They are open for just about anything.

I hope you are going to be there. I'd love to meet you! The painting is absolutely beautiful, and perfect too. We women are a civilized bunch.

Hi Pam,

I didn't realize you were part of the collaboration! Congratulations! This painting is wonderful and it is true... one of my favorite things to do is gather with my sisters, girlfriends and mom to visit, laugh and sometimes cry.

I just booked my tickets with air miles- I'm going for the artist's weekend preview! I can't wait- I'll get to see your work in person.

Natalie, Thanks. I love all the teacups, too. I'm glad to be using them for this particular venue.

Thank you Janie. Yes, teaching art is about the greatest job there is! I loved just about ever minute of it!

Barbara, Thank you. Sadly, I am not going to be able to travel so far. But, I will be there in spirit. Maybe this could become a traveling international show!

Thank you Nicki, So great that you can get to the show! What a great use of miles.. Please take and post lots of photos!

Congrats on the show! Your painting looks like a party waiting for the guests to arrive, no doubt a group of ladies. I love scenes that suggest the human element without the humans in it.

Katherine, Thanks so much. It was fun setting this scene up! I should have invited some ladies over we I finished painting!
