Painted Desert

Painted Desert

I loved the way the light and shadow created brushstrokes of color across the Arizona desert.  When I say the word "desert" to myself I think of the Sahara, rolling hills and bluffs of sand constantly changing in the wind.  The Arizona desert isn't like that at all.  Yes, the wind and erosion cause change in the land, but it is full of color and drama.

These are all just photos shot out the car window, but I love how they show the light, shadow, and drama of the area.

SO beautiful, Pam. I love those Desert colors in your painting. I have family in Phoenix and Tucson and driving to Tucson is so beautiful looking out of the car window and seeing those mountains just like your pictures!!

Nancy, thank you so much! I think it's fun to add the photos from the trip.

Thank you Hilda! You're right. It is so absolutely beautiful! I love that road trips allow freedom.

Diana, Thank you. It's a fun challenge. Especially when my personal goal is to paint larger pieces!

Thanks so much Debbi. Sometimes those paintings are just out there staring you right in the eye!

Julie, Thanks so much. Have to admit, that I haven't been to that part of New Mexico. Maybe on a future road trip!

Arena, Thank you. The light does have a magic quality. Maybe it's that there is so little out there.

Thanks again Sherry. I take so many photos out the car window!! It's a good reminder.
