Ice Lake

Ice Lake
Oil  9" x 12"
SOLD

This is a commission of a small local lake that I did for friend.  We hiked one morning up to the lake so that I could take pictures.  I'd never been to this spot.  I hiked back another evening to get more pictures.  This piece was done from one of the evening hike photos.  Sometimes luck is with us.  The evening light was perfect, the water was smooth, the clouds were beautiful, the reflections great!  Thank you Leslie!

Old Time Gardening

Old Time Gardening
Oil  6" x 6"
$100.00 + $10. s/h

I painted this awhile ago when out with my plein air group, Garden Artists.  We've met every Tuesday and Thursday morning, from May to September, for the last 10 - 12 years.  We paint in local parks, gardens, homes, museums;  anywhere that we can make arrangements.  Come join us if you live near by!  We now have a FaceBook page.

I love gardening.  My husband and I have a great backyard garden which I've painted and posted about many times.  I do have a watering can.  It mostly gets used on the upper deck where the hose and sprinkler system don't reach!

Lantern Shadow

Lantern Shadow
Oil  8" x 6"
$100.00 + $10. s/h

Earlier this summer my plein air group, Garden Artists, painted at the Broadmoor Hotel.  I had two wipe-outs before I spotted this lantern shadow.  I love painting shadows and have painted many in lots of different locations in our trips and travels.  I think the comfort of painting something that I love painting allowed me to get through my earlier frustrations that morning.  Do you ever have a time when your paintings aren't working or when artists' block is staring you in the face?  Go to your comfort zone.  It works!

Tying The Knot

Tying The Knot
Oil  20" x 16"
$495.00 + $20. s/h

This is another iris from our backyard that I painted last month.  While looking in the book "Roy G Biv" in the yellow chapter I saw that when a traditional Hindi girl "ties the knot" she gets her hands yellow by lavishly decorating them in henna.  Thus, my title.  All of the different  color and country traditions are interesting!

Joyful Iris

Joyful Iris
Oil  20" x 16"
$495.00 + $20. s/h

I read in the book, Roy G. Biv by Jude Stewart, (a Christmas gift from our son) that yellow represents "joy";  thus, the title of this painting.  I think iris are joyful flowers.  They just look happy to me.  I painted 2 yellow iris pieces this same size and 3 pieces of violet iris on long vertical canvases.  Look for these soon!

I posted this picture from our backyard a while back when I was painting this.  The garden looks very different now.

Standing Vacant

Standing Vacant
Oil  11" x 14"
$295.00 + $10. s/h

This barn isn't too far from my house.  But, it sits way back at the far end of a lot and is hardly noticeable.  I painted there last week.  As often happens when out plein air painting, something occurs.  This wasn't too bad, but I came home with burrs everywhere on my shoes and socks!  Luckily, no bugs!

Happy 4th of July!

 Happy 4th of July!
I've sold all of these flag paintings, but thought this made a great post for the 4th!
Please let me know if I can paint another flag just for you!
