This piece was done in the afternoon of the first day of the South Park Plein Air Arts Celebration.  I painted yesterday's posted piece in the morning, then lunch was delivered to us out on the ranch.  We're not talking about a simple sandwich, we're talking pulled pork barbecue, cole slaw, fruit, cookies.  As I said, this is a GREAT plein air event!

Anyway, as time progressed, obviously the ranch owners purchased modern appliances and kitchen utensils.  The old favorites weren't thrown away, they were set up around the barns and out buildings. Every one of them called out to me to become a painting!

This is a plein air still life.  I set this old Cowboy Coffee Pot up outside on gravel in the sun.  I love the way so many colors are in the metal.  I let the gravel just be light values.

I posted this old cowboy coffee pot last summer but at that time it wasn't for sale;  I had it set aside for a show.  I didn't put it in the show, so now it is available.

This was a plein air piece that I did last summer at the Medano Zapata Ranch Artist's Gathering.

I have not been up to posting or painting this week.  What with the devastating fires here in Colorado Springs, my mind has been elsewhere.  I find the constant smoke bothersome, my eyes hurt, we're told to keep our doors and windows shut, the record breaking heat has been hard.  However, I am so grateful that we are safe and that no lives have been lost in the fire.  My heart goes out to all those who have lost their homes.  It's been a sad, tragic, awful 6 days.  The fire is not expected to be fully contained until mid-July.

This is another painting I did while at the Medano-Zapata Ranch.  The pot was sitting on the hearth in the dining room, so I set it up outside in the sun.  I wondered how many cups of coffee have been poured for all the generations of ranchers and cowboys.  Who knows, between this and the European Coffee Maker I posted last month from Venice I might search for other coffee pots and start a coffee series.
