Again, this sunrise is nearing it's end.  Sometimes, those last soft moments are some of the most beautiful!  The gold rays dance across the park.  The blues and violets of the sky soften and fade away.

I'll say it again...I love our western skies!   I love my view in the morning!

I love how the colors of the sky soften at the end of the sunrise.  I think it's beautiful how the late sunrise light creates soft ochres and sage colors in the park.  This one too is my morning coffee view!

Another beautiful sunrise from our kitchen!  Every sunrise could be several paintings as the sky  changes by the minute!  I love Mother Nature's color palette!  It, too, changes everyday!

This is the sunrise view from the edge of our backyard.  It's looking out over Bear Creek Park.  Depending on what time I get up, I have this view from our kitchen window, although now, there are trees that I have to peek through.  Never the less, I am greeted in the early morning hours by a beautiful sky.  I've painted this scene dozens of times and never tire of it.  It's hard to tire of amazing colors spread out across the sky!

This is the second painting that I did in the PAAC, Plein Air Artists of Colorado, Marathon paint out.  While waiting for the sun to actually rise over Pulpit Rock (in yesterday's post), I turned my easel around and painted Pikes Peak.  While painting I kept an eye on the sunrise to get the colors of the sky.  Sunrise was scheduled, interesting how nature can be scheduled, for 5:36.  But, Pulpit Rock is a bit higher than the horizon, so it didn't really rise over the Rock until around 6:00.  This is similar to a painting that I did of Pikes Peak at sunrise a few weeks ago.  But, that morning there was a full moon setting.

I recently participated in a Paint-Out Marathon sponsored by PAAC, Plein Air Artists of Colorado.   Held here in Colorado Springs,  it started at 5:00 a.m. and continued until dinner.  I'll post my plein air paintings from the event over the next few days.

Pulpit Rock is in the middle of town, so it was great for artists coming from all different directions and is an easy exit off the Interstate.  There weren't many clouds, so the sunrise was soft and calm.

I recently met some fellow artists at the crack of dawn to paint sunrise.  As happens occasionally, there were no early morning clouds, thus no great sunrise color.  So, I turned my easel around and there before my eyes was the full moon setting over Pikes Peak.  It turned out to be a great early morning!

This is another painting done from photos I took on our fall trip to Maine.  We left our motel at about 6:25 and just made the sunrise.  This is just outside of Rockland.  

I love the way this sunrise piece turned out.  I started with a canvas toned in a bold pink.  Then there are several layers of color scumbled on after each layer dried.  I've got to go through my photos and see if I have anymore sunrise shots over water!  I have lots of mountain and plains sunrises, but I love the colors in the water reflections.

And another great sunrise.  I've really got to get up early to see the sunrise now that the time has changed!  Not sure how many I'm going to see; I'm not really an early morning person.

We're getting ready for our kids and friends to be here for Thanksgiving.  Looking forward to having a full house again.  I am thankful that both of our kids have great jobs.  But, those great jobs moved them both out of state.  So, I alway look forward to their visits.

This is the view from our kitchen deck, minus the fence around the back yard and shrinking the trees a bit.  I have painted this same scene many times; I did a whole series of this sunrise on small 5" x 7" panels.

Sometimes the sunrises that I see out our deck are bold, bright and almost unbelievably colorful.  This morning the sunrise was a bit softer, but just as beautiful.

Sometimes in the morning our sunrises are quiet, calm, peaceful.  Other mornings I look out and see only soft blues, with very little "real" sunrise.  There are other mornings when the sky is a palette of color.

As we have family in town for the weekend, I'm not getting any painting done.  We've gone for walks, have had great meals with lots of visiting, went to the movies.  These sunrises from our deck were painted a short while ago to be posted this weekend.

The title for this piece is complements of Dean Haven who told me in a comment yesterday that I was "more than lucky to have this view...Blessed is more like it!"  He's right!  I thought that that made a great title!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with delicious food, great friends and family.  I am thankful for all of that and more.  I am grateful for all the friends I've made and the many people that I've met through blogging.  I am so thankful that I can spend my time painting.  I would also have to say that I'm lucky to look at this view in the morning.

I guess weather patterns stay the same for several days.  We had another cloudy sunrise.  I'm really enjoying the different sky colors from our typical bold, warmish sunrises.

I'm back to sunrises and very early mornings.  I couldn't believe this!  In a state that has 320 sunny days each year, my planned early morning was overcast and cloudy.   And while that didn't allow for incredible warm colors, it created a great sunrise none the less.

I have to admit, I am enjoying the paintings that I'm getting from my early mornings this week!  I guess you can tell that we live on the west side of town and our deck faces east!  And, that we have some trees on either side of the yard that I take the liberty of moving around, changing, and/or eliminating to work with the sunrise colors.  I really loved how the sky was so peachy!
