Crab Apples #3

5" x 7" oil on masonite
$100.00 + $10. s/h
SOLD

This is the third in my crab apple series. The blossoms are just opening. And so quickly. It's amazing when you really watch. One day the tree just had a pinkish tint. And now, we have a few blossoms. It still is so interesting to me that the closed little blossom is so red, but so pink when opened. I would have thought it would have been dark pink when closed. Mother Nature never ceases to amaze.

Nice work, with beautiful shadows. Nature is always surprising us, I agree!. I love the oriental feel.

Thanks Peter, We have such great clouds/skies here in Colorado, there's a never endless supply of paintings.

Dean, Thanks, Yes, I used pink. I usually tone my landscape canvases in yellow ochre, cad yellow deep, or red. I tone my still life canvases in either the same color as the "object" or a complementary color. I figured the blossoms were 1/2 way between still life and landscape (?) so i chose pink.
