William Merritt Chase

This is my submission for Michelle Burnett's Following the Master's blog.  William Merritt Chase (1849-1916) is my favorite American Impressionist.  I admire his use of color and his painterly brushstrokes.  He frequently painted his children (8) and wife in their Brooklyn, New York home and neighborhood as well as in Shinnecock, Long Island.

Oh, I love his work, too! And you did a great job! I love your sky, too. I've had a little hiatus with the holidays and can't wait to jump back in and paint! (Well, I did today, but it was a wipe-off!)

Pam, Brilliant job with the shadows, especially on the ground. What a beautiful painting, very well done.

Nancy, It really helps to look at the masters to see how it should be done!

Celeste, Thanks so much!
