Ranch Rocker

I recently participated in the South Park Plein Air Arts Celebration in Fairplay, CO.  This is a wonderful plein air event.  The town of Fairplay organizes it so well, providing food every day, arranging painting excursions to private ranches, & having evening gatherings.

This rocker was painted the first morning out on a ranch about 20 minutes from Fairplay. The ranch family has lived there for 4 generations.  After walking all around the ranch and being a bit overwhelmed by the views, trees, buildings, etc. I focused in on this old rocker.  I could imagine the pleasure the "rockee" would have enjoying his view and resting after a hard days' work.

Day 12 of 30
Once again I'm participating in the 30 in 30 painting challenge i.e.:  paint 30 paintings in 30 days.  I'm not able to paint every day for 30 days in January, but I'm going to paint as much as I can.  My theme for this challenge is "Paintings From Mexico."  My husband and I love Mexico, we've been there many times and we'll be there much of this winter (we are so lucky to have the most wonderful house sitter), thus, my theme.  I'll post as often as I can.  When I don't have new paintings from Mexico I'm going to throw in some oldies but goodies on my blog.  But, to stick with the challenge I'll only post the new ones on the challenge blog.  Enjoy!

All paintings sold will be mailed in April.  I apologize for the big delay and inconvenience.

This Mexican chair is from our room in Puerta Vallarta.  Again, I love the bright colors used in Mexico.    I think it makes every thing seem happy!  The people all seem so happy;  maybe it's the colors they use.

Sweet, Little Chair

This is the third painting from the recent Garden Tour.  We were invited to tour the gardens in advance to help us choose our locations.  No one had the chance to tour each garden.  This was the first grade that I toured.  Immediately I knew that I wanted to paint this little chair on the front porch. It is so sweet!  Interesting that I painted chairs at two locations.

Right now I have this painting sitting temporarily in a simple, black frame.  It looks great!  I might re-photo this.  The painting is just a bit brighter.
